Shopping for a RAV4? You'll see "Weather Package" on a lot of window stickers and listings. It sounds simple, but it trips people up, because Toyota uses the same name for different bundles on different trims. A Weather Package on an XLE gets you heated seats. A Weather Package on an XSE doesn't, and that isn't a mistake. Here's how it all breaks down for the 2021 to 2025 model years.

What's in it on each trim
Every version includes rain-sensing wipers with a de-icer. Beyond that, it depends on what your trim already has. These are the 2021 to 2024 contents straight from Toyota's brochures, with 2025 confirmed on the XSE from real window stickers.
XLE
2021 to 2024- Heated leather-trimmed steering wheel
- Heated front seats
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
On an XLE, this package is the only way to get heated seats. It didn't change from 2021 to 2024.
XLE Premium
2021 to 2024- Heated leather-trimmed steering wheel
- Heated front seats
- 8-way power driver's seat with two-position memory and lumbar support
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
Same as the XLE, plus a memory driver's seat, which is handy if two people share the car.
Adventure
2021 to 2024Changed after 2021- Heated steering wheel
- Heated front seats, plus ventilated (cooled) seats in 2021 only
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
In 2021 the Adventure package came with perforated seats that were both heated and ventilated. From 2022 on it only heats them. If you want cooled seats in a used Adventure, look for a 2021.
TRD Off-Road
2021 to 2024- Heated steering wheel
- Perforated heated and ventilated front seats
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
The TRD Off-Road kept the cooled seats every year.
Woodland
2024New for 2024- Heated leather-trimmed steering wheel
- Heated front seats
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
The Woodland trim started in 2023, but that year it had no Weather Package, so a 2023 Woodland can't have heated seats. Look for a 2024 if you want them.
SE Hybrid
2022 to 2024- Heated steering wheel
- Heated front seats
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
Toyota lists this one on the SE's own trim page in the brochure, not in the main packages table, so it's easy to miss. On an SE, it's the way to get heated seats.
XSE Hybrid
2021 to 2025$375 new- Heated steering wheel
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
This is the shortest version, and it's not missing anything. Heated front seats are already standard on the XSE, so Toyota leaves them out. It's also the only way to get a heated steering wheel on an XSE.
Limited
2021 to 2024- Heated steering wheel
- Perforated heated and ventilated front seats
- Heated rear outboard seats
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
The biggest version, and the only Weather Package on a gas or regular hybrid RAV4 that heats the back seats. The cooled seats help in hot weather too.
Prime SE
2021 to 2024- Heated leather-trimmed steering wheel
- Heated rear outboard seats
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
- Power tilt and slide moonroof
On the plug-in Prime SE, Toyota calls it the "Weather and Moonroof Package" and bundles in the moonroof.
Prime XSE
2021 to 2024Changed in 2024- Heated leather-trimmed steering wheel
- Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer
- Heated rear outboard seats, 2024 only
For 2024, Toyota added heated back seats to the Prime XSE package.
Side by side
Here's what the Weather Package gives you on each trim in 2024. "Standard" means the trim already has it, so the package doesn't need to include it.

The part people overlook: the de-icer
"Rain-sensing wipers with de-icer" sounds like one feature, but it's really two. The wipers speed up and slow down on their own depending on how hard it's raining. The de-icer is a heated strip at the bottom of the windshield that melts ice off the wiper blades so they don't freeze to the glass.
If you live somewhere with real winters, the de-icer is the part you'll miss the most if you don't have it.
Buddy's take: is it worth it?
If you get cold winters, yes. At $375 on the XSE, it's one of the cheapest options Toyota offers, and a heated steering wheel and frozen-wiper fix are hard to add later.
On an XLE or Woodland, it's close to a must if you want heated seats, because there's no other factory way to get them.
If you live somewhere warm, you can skip it on most trims. The exception is the Limited, where the ventilated seats are a real help in the heat.
Shopping used? What to check
Since the package changed by year and trim, don't trust the listing title alone. A few quick checks:
- Look for the heated steering wheel button. On an XSE, that button only exists if the car has the Weather Package.
- Ask for the window sticker. It lists the package by name, so it settles the question.
- On a Woodland, check the year. Heated seats weren't offered on a 2023 Woodland.
- On an Adventure, check for cooled seats. Only a 2021 Adventure with the package has them.
Still to come
The 2019 and 2020 model years are next. Toyota no longer posts those brochures online, so we're tracking down copies to confirm them. The 2025 lineup outside the XSE will be added as we confirm it from window stickers.
- Toyota's own RAV4 eBrochures, Packages and Options page: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024.
- 2025: window stickers and dealer equipment lists on real 2025 RAV4 Hybrid XSEs.
- The $375 price is Toyota's option price for the 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE, as listed on Edmunds. We assumed the same price for the other years.
